I had limited experience with social media, as I was a relatively new personal user to facebook but nothing else. I spoke with Michael about what ideas outside of my current marketing strategies I could employ without too much capital investment. Michael suggested social media and in particular Facebook. As I saw Facebook as a ‘personal’ media I was a little apprehensive but prepared to give it a go. I proceeded to setup a Facebook page for my business ‘Hobbs Jamieson Architecture’ after looking at a few other business pages that existed on facebook of some colleagues of mine. Almost immediately I had tens of followers and found myself uploading images of our work and receiving good comments. After considering some of the key points Michael raised on how to effectively use social media to your business benefit, I now post weekly messages either informing people of our project work, or providing some useful information, and direction on how to find our website etc. I have also received one referral already. I am interested to see where it leads, all whilst having fun at the same time! Having a business marketing strategist like Michael allows traditional businesses to move outside the box with their marketing.
